Become A Foster Parent

Over 10,000 children are in foster care in Missouri.

The Facts:

In 2010 there were over 10,000 children in foster care in Missouri. Every day in Missouri, 21 children enter foster or residential care, 164 children are found to be abused or neglected and 128 calls are made to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Sometimes a child is removed from a home due to abuse and neglect. The first goal of the foster care system is to place that child back with the family again once it is safe for the child to return. But in many cases, the child cannot ever go back home and is put back into the foster care program. Some children wait in foster care for their own family to be approved again, while with others, the parental rights are revoked and the child will never go back home and is up for domestic adoption.
There are currently 120,000 children and youth (domestic orphans) waiting to be adopted. They are in temporary homes, but they need parents and a permanent home to call their own. Children need permanency, love and safety.
